“Deathstar Rising” stands as one of the defining chapters in BEFORE THE DAWN’s catalogue — a record shaped by renewed energy, growing confidence, and a strong sense of forward motion within the band. At the time of writing, the group was becoming increasingly active as a touring force across Finland and Europe, which fed directly into the motivation and momentum behind the album.
A key factor in the creative leap of “Deathstar Rising” was the introduction of drummer Atte Palokangas (later known for his work with Beast In Black), whose powerful and precise performance elevated the band’s sound significantly and helped shape the identity of the record.
The writing and recording process itself was notably smooth and positive. With upcoming touring plans across Europe and Asia already in place and a licensing deal with Nuclear Blast confirmed for Europe, the band entered the studio with strong confidence and an optimistic outlook.
